Vinn en resa med Team Adu Dhabi till Miami

Turistmyndigheterna i Abu Dhabi slår på stora trumman och utlyser en tävling med en resa till Miami i första pris. Målet är förstås att besöka Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing och de pågående förberedelserna inför Leg 7. Förutom resan, som sker i Business Class, får vinnaren och en vän segla med på Azzam yacht i Pro-Am Race.

Tävlingen pågår till och med lördag 12 maj. Vinnaren får resa med Etihad Airways och bo i Miami med tre övernattningar betalda och får dessutom tillgång till Abu Dhabis VIP-paviljong i Miami Race Village.

In the May 18th Pro-Am Race the winners will race alongside Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing’s international crew including the UAE’s Adil Khalid, the first Gulf national to take part in the Volvo Ocean Race.

On May 19, the lucky duo will also experience the amazing ‘Everest of Sailing’ up-close as six crews battle it out off the Florida coast in a points-scoring In-Port Race. Having shown solid In-Port Race form with two stage wins to date, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing is aiming to claw back points before Leg 7 – an Atlantic sprint from the States’ eastern seaboard to Lisbon, Portugal – which starts the next day (May 20). Following Lisbon, stopovers in L’Orient, France and Galway, Ireland, round-out the crews’ global voyage.

“This will be a truly memorable experience for race fans to celebrate Abu Dhabi’s history making involvement in this global sailing odyssey, to learn about the emirate’s rich history and culture and to meet the team before its final push to Europe,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Manager, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, the first Official Destination Partner of the race and the principal entity behind the emirate’s inaugural Volvo Ocean Race hosting last January – the first-ever Arabian host in the event’s 39-year history.

A fortnight of UAE-themed heritage celebrations will welcome fans at the Miami stopover, with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority leveraging the emirate’s ‘Travellers’ Welcome’ slogan in a specially-developed Race Village pavilion.

Topping the list of crowd-pullers is a troupe of Emirati Ayalla dancers. Set to the sound of drums, the traditional, celebratory dance features chanting from national songs and draws on centuries of history in a physical representation of Abu Dhabi’s deep-rooted horsemanship past and the notion of bravery in battle.

Elsewhere, calligraphy artists will be on hand to turn fans’ names into Arabic works of art, while henna specialists will paint intricate designs on visitors’ hands. The pavilion will also feature a dedicated area where spectators can get their photographs taken with an exquisite Arabian falcon – the UAE’s national symbol and the emblem of Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing.
